Aloe vera gel: its cutting and extraction

Aloe vera gel comes from a plant with numerous uses and benefits. This plant is easy to care for, requiring only a little water and sunlight to thrive. It grows well in sandy soil or in a clay pot. When mature, it flowers. To enjoy the benefits of aloe vera, you need to know how to cut its leaves and extract the gel. You can then use it for various purposes.

Cutting the aloe vera stem

There are a few essential steps to properly cutting an aloe vera leaf. If the leaf is cut too short, the plant’s juice may dry out quickly, leading to a loss of its beneficial properties.

First and foremost, you must wait for the plant to mature, as it will then develop all its properties. In this case, if you have planted an aloe vera plant at home, you should expect to wait an average of three years.

When harvesting, always cut the lower leaves of the plant, as these are the older leaves and therefore offer the most beneficial properties. The lower part of the leaf is usually quite white. Cut the stem lengthwise. A sharp knife is recommended for this first step. To prevent the aloe vera gel from oxidizing quickly, use a wooden or porcelain cutting tool.

However, if you don’t have an aloe vera plant at home, you can use aloe vera gel preparations. There are many high-quality products available to suit your needs, such as Forever Aloe Vera products. These offer pure and highly effective aloe vera products.

Extracting the gel from the stem

Now you need to extract the aloe vera gel from the stem to make your product. To do this, you must first cut the leaf above and below the stem. This corresponds to the tip and the base of the stem, respectively. This cut will remove the white part of the leaf.

Next, you need to cut the leaf crosswise along the pointed end to divide the stem into two. You can then peel the skin off the stem.

However, you must be careful not to extract the acibar from the stem. This is a yellowish substance located between the stem’s skin and the aloe vera gel. This substance is harmful if ingested because it contains aloin. It can therefore have a laxative effect on your body. In this case, you must thoroughly clean the aloe vera gel before using it.

Cleaning is quite simple. You need to hold the aloe vera leaf vertically, pointing downwards, and wait a few minutes for the aloin to drain out. For a quicker process, you can rinse the piece of gel you intend to ingest in water. After cleaning, you can then consume the gel or use it in other ways (such as applying it to your skin).
